How to Add a Link to Your TikTok Bio (and Why the Option May Not Show)
How to add a link to your TikTok bio in 2026: who qualifies, the steps, why the Links field may be missing, and what to use until it unlocks.

You open Edit profile on TikTok, ready to paste your shop, portfolio or newsletter, and there's no Links field. Nothing is broken. TikTok only shows the website link to accounts that meet its requirements, and most new creators don't meet them yet.
This guide covers how to add a link to your TikTok bio when you qualify, why the option may not show when you don't, and what to do in the meantime so people can still find everything you share. Rules and steps follow TikTok's Help Center as of October 2026.
Who can add a link to their TikTok bio
According to TikTok's Help Center, you can add a website link to your profile in two situations:
- You have at least 1,000 followers on a General TikTok Account (the standard account most people and creators use).
- You have a Verified Business Account. This is a business account that has gone through TikTok's business verification, not just an account with "business" in its settings.
Where it's available, TikTok also lets you add a Lemon8 account to your profile. Outside those cases, the Links field simply doesn't appear in Edit profile.
One more rule worth knowing: TikTok says it no longer supports links that open other social media apps or log you into them. You can still link to those platforms' websites, so a full web address works where an app-opening link won't.

How to add a link to your TikTok bio (step by step)
If your account qualifies, the steps in the TikTok app are short:
- Tap Profile at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Next to Links, tap Add.
- Follow the steps to add your website, then save.
Check the link from a second account or ask a friend to tap it. When someone taps a profile link, TikTok opens the page in its in-app browser. For safety, TikTok limits how far people can click through chains of external links inside that browser, and visitors may see a message asking them to open the page in their phone's browser instead. TikTok recommends direct links so people reach the page they want in just a few steps.
Why the link option isn't showing on TikTok
If you can't find the Links field, run through these causes in order.
You have fewer than 1,000 followers
This is the most common reason. On a General TikTok Account, the website link unlocks at 1,000 followers. Below that number, there's no setting to change and no form to fill out.
Your business account isn't verified
Many guides still say "switch to a business account and the link appears." TikTok's current account types make the distinction clear: the website link belongs to Verified Business Accounts. To start, go to Profile, tap the Menu button, then Settings and privacy, Account and Business verification, and follow the steps.
Verification is meant for real businesses. It asks for business documents, and TikTok's Business Help Center says you must meet the minimum legal age required to verify a business where you live. TikTok also advises against switching back and forth between a Verified Business Account and a General account, because the verification isn't saved and you'd need to verify again. If you post personal content and promote a business, TikTok recommends two separate accounts.
Switching only to get a link is rarely worth it for a creator. You give up a General account's setup to solve a problem that the next section solves for free.
Your app is out of date
Profile features change with app updates. If you've passed 1,000 followers and the field still isn't there, update TikTok from your app store, close the app completely and open it again.
You're trying to add an app link
If TikTok rejects a link that opens Instagram, YouTube or another app, use the website address of that profile instead. TikTok no longer supports links that open or log you into other social media apps.
Your business verification needs renewing
TikTok says it may ask Verified Business Accounts to verify again to keep access to their business features and tools. If the link disappeared from a business profile, check for a verification request in your settings.
What to do if you can't add a link yet
Not qualifying for the Links field doesn't mean your audience can't reach you. These are the options that work today.
Put a short, typeable address in your bio text
Your bio text isn't clickable, but people can still read it and type it. That only works if the address is short and easy to remember. A long shop URL with tracking codes won't get typed; something like visu.to/yourname will. Keep the same handle you use on TikTok so there's nothing new to remember. If you're still choosing a name, our guide to Instagram username ideas covers how to pick a handle that's free on every app.
Send people to a profile where links do work
Instagram and YouTube both allow links on your profile, so many creators point TikTok viewers there: "Links on my Instagram." It works, but it adds a stop. Someone has to leave TikTok, find your other profile, then find the link. Each extra step loses people, and you spread your audience across platforms without knowing which one actually sent the visit.
Say it in your videos and comments
Mention the address out loud, show it on screen for a few seconds, and pin a comment that repeats it. On a video about a product or a recipe, viewers are actively looking for "where do I get this," so tell them exactly what to type.
Use a QR code on screen or offline
A QR code on your setup, a business card or merch takes people straight to your page without typing anything. If you sell at markets, perform live or hand out flyers, a code that points to your link page does the job your bio can't do yet. Our guide on where to place your creator QR code has placement ideas.
Why a link-in-bio page beats a single link (even after 1,000)
Once you qualify, TikTok gives you room for a website. Most creators have more than one place to send people: a shop, a YouTube channel, a newsletter, a booking page, a current brand deal, a WhatsApp group.
A link-in-bio page solves that. You put one address on TikTok, and that page lists everything else. It also fixes two practical problems:
- You update the page, not your profile. New product, new collab, new video? Change the order on your page and your TikTok link stays the same.
- You can see what people tap. A link page with analytics shows which links get clicks, so you know whether TikTok viewers want your shop, your tutorials or your newsletter.
There's one honest trade-off. TikTok recommends direct links, and a link page adds one tap between the viewer and the final destination. Keep that tap worth it: put the one link most of your TikTok viewers want at the top, and label it clearly. Our guide to organizing your links by priority explains how to order them.
Setting it up with VISU
With VISU, your link-in-bio page is your VisuLink at visu.to/yourname. The free plan holds 5 links plus 5 social icons, which covers most creators: shop, YouTube, newsletter, WhatsApp and one current promo, with icons for your other profiles. Starter raises that to 10 links, Pro to 20 and Premium has no limit. You can switch links on and off without deleting them, and your account comes with a QR code that points to the same page.
Use that address in your bio text while you're under 1,000 followers. When the Links field unlocks, paste the same address there. Nothing changes for the people who already saved it. You can browse other creators on VISU for ideas on how they set up their pages.
Quick checklist
- Check whether you qualify: 1,000 followers on a General account, or a Verified Business Account.
- If you qualify: Profile, Edit profile, Links, Add.
- If the field is missing: update the app and check your follower count and account type.
- Use full website addresses, not links that open other apps.
- Until it unlocks: a short address in your bio text, pinned comments and an on-screen QR code.
- Put your most important link first on your link page.
Your TikTok link is the one door every viewer can walk through, so make sure it leads somewhere complete. Create your free VISU page and you'll have one address ready for your bio today and for the Links field when it unlocks.
Frequently asked questions
How many followers do you need to add a link to your TikTok bio?
On a General TikTok Account you need at least 1,000 followers. Below that, the Links field does not appear in Edit profile.
Can I add a link to my TikTok bio with a business account?
Only with a Verified Business Account, meaning one that has completed TikTok's business verification. Switching the account type without verifying is not what unlocks the link.
Why does TikTok reject my Instagram or YouTube link?
TikTok no longer supports links that open or log you into other social media apps. Use the website address of that profile instead.
Is a link written in my TikTok bio text clickable?
No. Bio text is not clickable, so keep any address you write there short and easy to type, like visu.to/yourname.
Why use a link-in-bio page on TikTok instead of one website?
TikTok gives you one website link. A link-in-bio page turns that single slot into your shop, videos, newsletter and socials, and you can update it without touching your profile.
